Yevgeny Viktorovich Prigozhin (born 1 June 1961) is a Russian businessman with ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin. Often referred to as "Putin's chef" due to his catering businesses, Prigozhin has been involved in various sectors including the media, military, and politics.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Prigozhin was born in Leningrad, now known as Saint Petersburg, Russia. He spent nine years in prison during his youth for charges including robbery and fraud. After his release, he began his career in the food industry, which eventually led him to the Kremlin.

Business Ventures[edit | edit source]

Prigozhin's most notable business venture is his catering company, Concord Management and Consulting, which has provided services for Putin's presidential inaugurations and other state events. He also owns the Troll Factory, a St. Petersburg-based company known for its role in the 2016 U.S. election interference.

Legal Issues[edit | edit source]

Prigozhin has faced numerous legal issues, both in Russia and internationally. He was indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2018 for his alleged involvement in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election interference. He is also under sanctions by the U.S. government for his involvement in the Syrian Civil War.

Prigozhin is married and has two children. Despite his close ties to the Kremlin, he maintains a low public profile.
