Yves Pouliquen

Yves Pouliquen (born 17 November 1931) is a French ophthalmologist known for his research in corneal transplantation and cataract surgery. He was elected to the Académie française in 2001.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Pouliquen was born in Mortain, Manche, France. He studied medicine at the University of Paris, where he specialized in ophthalmology.

Career[edit | edit source]

Pouliquen has made significant contributions to the field of ophthalmology. He developed new techniques for corneal transplantation and cataract surgery, which have improved the success rate of these procedures. He has also conducted research on the causes and treatment of various eye diseases.

In addition to his medical practice, Pouliquen has held several academic positions. He was a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Paris and the director of the Institut de la Vision in Paris. He has also served as the president of the French Society of Ophthalmology and the International Council of Ophthalmology.

Pouliquen has received numerous awards for his work, including the Grand Prix scientifique de la Ville de Paris and the Prix mondial Cino Del Duca. He was elected to the Académie française in 2001.

Pouliquen has written several books on ophthalmology, including La Transplantation cornéenne and La Chirurgie de la cataracte. He has also published numerous articles in scientific journals.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Pouliquen is married and has three children. He is a member of the Legion of Honour and the Order of Merit.
