Zahedan is the capital city of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, located in the southeast of Iran. It is a significant city due to its geographical location near the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan, which makes it a strategic point of economic and cultural exchange.

Zahedan, formerly known as Dozdab, was part of the Safavid Dynasty's territory. The city's development began in the late 19th century during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar. The city's name was changed to Zahedan by Reza Shah in the 20th century.

Zahedan is located at an altitude of 1,352 meters above sea level. The city experiences a hot desert climate with long, hot summers and mild, dry winters. The city is surrounded by mountain ranges, including the Makran and Lut Desert.
