Z Kidwell

Zedekiah Kidwell (January 4, 1814 – April 27, 1872) was an American politician and physician who served as a U.S. Representative from Virginia.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Kidwell was born in Fairmont, Virginia (now West Virginia). He pursued classical studies and graduated from Jefferson College in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. He studied medicine and commenced practice in Clarksburg, Virginia (now West Virginia).

Political career[edit | edit source]

Kidwell was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-second and Thirty-third Congresses (March 4, 1851 – March 3, 1855). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1854. During his tenure, he served on various committees and was involved in legislative activities pertinent to his constituency.

Later life and death[edit | edit source]

After his congressional service, Kidwell resumed the practice of medicine. He passed away on April 27, 1872, in Fairmont, West Virginia. He was interred in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Kidwell's contributions to both medicine and politics in Virginia and West Virginia are remembered as part of the region's history. His work as a physician and legislator had a lasting impact on his community.
