3-Methoxymethamphetamine
3-Methoxymethamphetamine (3-MOMA) is a psychoactive drug of the phenethylamine, amphetamine, and methamphetamine chemical classes. It is a methoxylated analog of methamphetamine and is chemically related to methoxyphenamine.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
3-Methoxymethamphetamine is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C11H17NO2. It belongs to the class of organic compounds known as phenethylamines, which are compounds containing a phenethylamine moiety, which consists of a phenyl group substituted at the second position by an ethylamine.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
The pharmacological properties of 3-Methoxymethamphetamine are not well known. However, as a methoxylated analog of methamphetamine, it is presumed to have similar effects. Methamphetamine is a potent central nervous system (CNS) stimulant that affects neurotransmitter systems in the brain, particularly the dopamine system. Therefore, it is likely that 3-Methoxymethamphetamine also affects these systems, although the specific effects may vary due to the methoxy group.
Legality[edit | edit source]
The legality of 3-Methoxymethamphetamine varies by country. In some countries, it is classified as a controlled substance due to its structural similarity to methamphetamine. However, in other countries, it may not be specifically regulated.
