5-Fluoro-MET
5-Fluoro-MET (also known as 5F-MET) is a psychedelic and hallucinogenic substance of the tryptamine class. It is a structural and functional analog of dimethyltryptamine (DMT) with the addition of a fluorine atom at the 5th position of the indole ring.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
5-Fluoro-MET is a synthetic fluorinated analog of MET (N-Methyl-N-ethyltryptamine). It belongs to the tryptamine class of compounds, which are structurally derived from the essential amino acid tryptophan. The chemical structure consists of a bicyclic indole heterocycle attached at R3 to an amino group via an ethyl side chain. It is substituted at R5 of its indole heterocycle with a fluorine atom.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
The exact mechanism of action of 5-Fluoro-MET is not fully understood. However, it is believed to act as a serotonin receptor agonist, similar to other psychedelic tryptamines. It is thought to exert its psychedelic effects primarily by binding to serotonin receptors in the brain, particularly the 5-HT2A receptor. The addition of a fluorine atom at the 5th position is believed to slightly alter the pharmacological properties of the compound.
Effects[edit | edit source]
The effects of 5-Fluoro-MET are reported to be similar to those of other psychedelic tryptamines and can include hallucinations, altered perception of time, enhanced introspection, and increased emotional sensitivity. However, the subjective effects of 5-Fluoro-MET can vary greatly depending on the individual, dosage, set, and setting.
Legal Status[edit | edit source]
The legal status of 5-Fluoro-MET varies by country. In some countries, it is a controlled substance, while in others it is legal to possess for personal use. It is always important to check the legal status in your jurisdiction before possession or use.
