5-MAPBT
5-MAPBT (also known as 5-(2-methylaminopropyl)benzothiophene) is a psychoactive drug and research chemical of the benzothiophene class. It is structurally related to compounds such as 5-APB and 5-MAPB, which are known for their entactogen and stimulant effects.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
5-MAPBT is a benzothiophene derivative, which is a type of organic compound. It is structurally related to other benzothiophene derivatives such as 5-APB and 5-MAPB. The compound contains a methylaminopropyl group attached to the benzothiophene ring. The exact chemical formula of 5-MAPBT is C12H15NOS.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
The pharmacological profile of 5-MAPBT is not fully understood. However, it is believed to act as a serotonin-norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (SNDRI), similar to related compounds. This means it may increase the levels of these neurotransmitters in the brain by inhibiting their reuptake into neurons.
Effects[edit | edit source]
The effects of 5-MAPBT are largely unknown due to its status as a research chemical. However, anecdotal reports suggest it may produce effects similar to other entactogens and stimulants, including increased energy, euphoria, enhanced sensory perception, and empathogenic effects.
Legal Status[edit | edit source]
The legal status of 5-MAPBT varies by country. In some jurisdictions, it may be considered a controlled substance, while in others it may be legal for research purposes.
