5F-AB-PINACA
5F-AB-PINACA is a synthetic cannabinoid that has recently been identified in herbal products. Structurally, this designer drug is developed on an indazole base, which distinguishes it from the many JWH compounds having an indolyl base.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
5F-AB-PINACA has a molecular structure closely related to that of AB-PINACA, with the difference that there is a fluorobenzyl group on the terminal carbon of the alkyl chain. The chemical formula of 5F-AB-PINACA is C18H25FN4O2, and its molecular weight is 352.42 g/mol.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Like other synthetic cannabinoids, 5F-AB-PINACA is believed to act as a potent agonist for the CB1 receptor and CB2 receptor. However, the exact mechanism of action and the full spectrum of its effects are not fully understood.
Legality[edit | edit source]
5F-AB-PINACA is a controlled substance in some countries, including the United States, where it is classified as a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act. In the European Union, it is a controlled substance under the Psychoactive Substances Act.
Health Risks[edit | edit source]
The use of 5F-AB-PINACA, like other synthetic cannabinoids, can lead to severe health problems such as acute kidney injury, acute psychosis, seizures, and even death. Due to the lack of research on its long-term effects, the use of 5F-AB-PINACA is considered highly risky.
