AAH Pharmaceuticals

AAH Pharmaceuticals is a British wholesaler of pharmaceuticals, healthcare products and healthcare services. It is part of the American healthcare services company McKesson Corporation.

AAH originated from a company founded in 1923 by American entrepreneur Stephen Armitage. It was originally a textile business which, in 1954, turned to pharmaceuticals. In 1976, the company was acquired by Lloyds Bank International and was rebranded as AAH Pharmaceuticals Ltd. In 1995, it was bought by the German company Gehe AG, which later merged with Celesio AG. In 2014, Celesio was acquired by the American company McKesson Corporation.

AAH Pharmaceuticals operates in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It supplies over 20,000 branded and generic pharmaceuticals, as well as over-the-counter medicines and health and beauty products. It also provides healthcare services to pharmacies, hospitals and doctors.

AAH Pharmaceuticals offers a range of services to support healthcare providers. These include Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Electronic Prescription Service (EPS), and Pharmacy Automation solutions. It also provides training and support for healthcare professionals.

Criticism and Controversy[edit | edit source]

AAH Pharmaceuticals has faced criticism for its pricing practices. In 2018, it was fined by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) for anti-competitive conduct related to the supply of prescription drugs.
