AIDA International

AIDA International (also known as International Association for the Development of Apnea) is a worldwide rule-making body for competitive freediving. It was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland.

AIDA International was established in 1992 by a group of passionate freedivers who aimed to set standards and rules for the sport of freediving. The organization has since grown to include national affiliates in over 50 countries worldwide.

Structure[edit | edit source]

AIDA International is governed by a board of directors, which includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The board is elected by the national affiliates. The organization also has several committees, including the Medical & Science Committee, the Education Committee, and the Competition Committee, which are responsible for various aspects of the organization's operations.

Activities[edit | edit source]

AIDA International organizes and sanctions freediving competitions at the international level. It also sets the rules and standards for these competitions. In addition, the organization offers education and training programs for freedivers.

Recognition[edit | edit source]

AIDA International is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the international governing body for the sport of freediving.
