AMP Energy
AMP Energy is a energy drink brand produced and owned by PepsiCo. At its inception in 2001, AMP Energy was initially distributed under the Mountain Dew soft drink brand. Since 2009, it has been produced and labeled under its own stand-alone trademark name. The beverage is noted for its energizing effects, which are attributed to the presence of caffeine, B vitamins, and taurine.
History[edit | edit source]
AMP Energy was introduced in 2001 as part of the Mountain Dew product line. The initial product was named "AMP Energy Drink" and was positioned as a flavor extension of the Mountain Dew brand. In 2008, the label design was updated to make the AMP logo more prominent than the Mountain Dew logo. The following year, PepsiCo decided to further distinguish AMP Energy from Mountain Dew by giving it its own unique branding.
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
The primary ingredients of AMP Energy are carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, natural flavor, sodium benzoate, caffeine, sodium citrate, ginseng root extract, guarana seed extract, taurine, and B vitamins. The caffeine content is comparable to that of other popular energy drinks, with a 16 fl oz can containing 142 mg of caffeine.
Varieties[edit | edit source]
AMP Energy has been available in a variety of flavors, including Original (Dew), Cherry Blast, Tropical Punch, Strawberry Limeade, Passion Fruit, and Zero (Blueberry White Grape). Each flavor variant has its own unique blend of ingredients to achieve its specific taste.
Market Presence[edit | edit source]
AMP Energy is widely available in the United States and Canada, and has also been introduced in select international markets. It competes in the energy drink market with brands such as Red Bull, Monster Energy, and Rockstar.
Sponsorships[edit | edit source]
AMP Energy has been involved in a number of sponsorships, particularly in the realm of extreme sports. It has sponsored events such as the Winter X Games and athletes like snowboarder Shaun White.
