Shaun White
Shaun Roger White (born September 3, 1986) is an American professional snowboarder, skateboarder, and musician. He is a three-time Olympic gold medalist in halfpipe snowboarding and holds the record for the most X Games gold medals by a snowboarder. White is also known for his distinctive red hair, earning him the nickname "The Flying Tomato."
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Shaun White was born in San Diego, California. He was born with a congenital heart defect, Tetralogy of Fallot, which required two open-heart surgeries before the age of one. Despite this, White began snowboarding at a young age, inspired by his older brother Jesse.
Career[edit | edit source]
Snowboarding[edit | edit source]
White turned professional in snowboarding at the age of 13. He quickly made a name for himself in the sport, winning his first major competition at the Winter X Games in 2003. Over his career, White has won numerous titles, including three Olympic gold medals in the halfpipe event (2006, 2010, and 2018).
Skateboarding[edit | edit source]
In addition to snowboarding, White is also a professional skateboarder. He has competed in the Summer X Games and has won several medals in the vert and park events. White was influenced by skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, who mentored him early in his career.
Music[edit | edit source]
White is also a musician and plays guitar in the band Bad Things. The band released their debut album in 2014 and has toured across the United States.

White has been involved in various philanthropic efforts, including working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He is also an entrepreneur, having launched his own clothing line and invested in various business ventures.
