Aavin

Aavin is the trademark of the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation Limited, an Indian dairy company. The company is owned by the government of Tamil Nadu and is headquartered in Chennai. Aavin procures milk, processes it and sells milk and milk products to consumers.

Aavin was established in 1958 when the Department of Dairy Development was created in Tamil Nadu. The brand name "Aavin" was derived from the Tamil word "aa" meaning 'cow'. The Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation Limited, which uses the Aavin brand, was registered in 1981.

Operations[edit | edit source]

Aavin operates on a three-tier cooperative structure, involving dairy cooperative societies at the village level, milk unions at the district level and the federation at the state level. The milk is procured from farmers, processed and packaged at plants and then sold through retail outlets. Aavin's product range includes milk, ghee, butter, cheese, yogurt, ice cream and milk sweets.

Aavin's product line is diverse, with a range of dairy products available. These include different types of milk (standardized, toned, double toned, full cream, and skimmed), curd, ghee, butter, cheese, paneer, ice cream, and milk sweets like Mysore Pak and Gulab Jamun. Aavin also produces and sells milk powder, flavored milk, and other dairy-based beverages.

Aavin markets its products under the brand name "Aavin", and its advertising campaigns often feature the tagline "Aavin, the Taste of Purity". The company uses a variety of marketing channels, including television, print media, and digital media.
