Located in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, the hospital has taken a leading role in promoting and implementing standards in falcon care.

History[edit | edit source]

The Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital was established by the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) in 1999. It was initially opened as a facility to provide veterinary health care for the falcons of the United Arab Emirates. Over the years, the hospital has significantly expanded its services and now provides comprehensive veterinary services to all types of birds and animals.

Facilities and Services[edit | edit source]

The hospital has individual air-conditioned rooms for over 200 in-patients. It also has an intensive care unit and isolation rooms for birds suffering from infectious diseases. The hospital provides a wide range of services including surgery, endoscopy, radiology, laboratory diagnostics, and vaccination. In addition, the hospital also has a well-equipped ophthalmology department.

The ADFH also operates a falcon breeding center, which has successfully bred the Saker falcon and other species. The hospital also conducts research on falcon diseases and provides training in falcon medicine for veterinarians from around the world.

Education and Tourism[edit | edit source]

In 2007, the ADFH opened its doors to tourists, becoming a major tourist attraction in Abu Dhabi. Visitors can tour the facility, learn about falconry, and even hold a falcon. The hospital also conducts educational programs for schools and interested groups.
