Akhiok
Akhiok is a city located on Kodiak Island, in the Kodiak Island Borough of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is one of the smallest cities in the state, with a population of just over 50 people. Despite its small size, Akhiok has a rich history and culture, deeply rooted in the traditions of the Alutiiq people, the indigenous inhabitants of the island.

Akhiok was originally a winter residence for Alutiiq hunters and fishermen. The city was officially incorporated in 1972. The Alutiiq people have lived on Kodiak Island for thousands of years, and their culture and traditions continue to play a significant role in the community.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Akhiok is located at the southern end of Kodiak Island, on the Alitak Bay. The city is surrounded by rugged, mountainous terrain, and is accessible only by boat or plane. The nearest city, Kodiak, is approximately 80 miles to the northeast.
