Aleksandr Akimov was a Russian nuclear engineer known for his role in the Chernobyl disaster. He was the shift supervisor at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Unit 4 on the night of April 26, 1986, when the catastrophic accident occurred.

Akimov was born in Russia and studied nuclear engineering at a prominent university in Moscow. He joined the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant as a young engineer and quickly rose through the ranks due to his dedication and expertise in nuclear reactor operations.
