Amanda Peet (born January 11, 1972) is an American actress. She has appeared in numerous films, television shows, and theatre productions.

Peet was born in New York City, New York, to Penny (née Levy), a social worker, and Charles D. Peet Jr., a corporate lawyer. She attended Friends Seminary and graduated from Columbia University with a degree in History.
Career[edit | edit source]
Film[edit | edit source]
Peet's film debut was in the 1995 drama Animal Room. She gained wider recognition for her roles in the romantic comedy The Whole Nine Yards (2000) and its sequel The Whole Ten Yards (2004). Other notable films include Something's Gotta Give (2003), Identity (2003), Syriana (2005), 2012 (2009), and The Way, Way Back (2013).
Television[edit | edit source]
Peet has also had a successful career in television. She starred in the NBC series Jack & Jill (1999–2001) and had a recurring role in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (2006–2007). More recently, she appeared in Togetherness (2015–2016) and Brockmire (2017–2020).
Theatre[edit | edit source]
In addition to her work in film and television, Peet has appeared on stage. She made her Broadway debut in the 2006 revival of Barefoot in the Park.
Personal life[edit | edit source]
Peet married David Benioff, a writer and producer, in 2006. They have three children together. Peet is also known for her advocacy work, particularly in the areas of vaccination and children's health.
