History[edit | edit source]

Amul was founded by Verghese Kurien, known as the "Father of the White Revolution," and Tribhuvandas Patel, a local farmer leader. The cooperative was established to unite and empower small-scale milk producers, providing them with fair prices and a stable market for their products.

Products[edit | edit source]

Amul offers a wide range of dairy products, including milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, and milk powders. The cooperative's flagship product, Amul Butter, is renowned for its taste and quality, and features the iconic mascot, the Amul Girl, in its advertising campaigns.

Impact[edit | edit source]

Amul has had a significant impact on India's dairy industry and rural economy. By providing a reliable market for small-scale milk producers, the cooperative has helped improve the livelihoods of millions of farmers. The success of Amul has also inspired the formation of other dairy cooperatives in India and contributed to the country's self-sufficiency in milk production.
