Ardmore distillery

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Ardmore Distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery located in the village of Kennethmont, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The distillery is owned by Beam Suntory, a subsidiary of Suntory Beverage & Food Ltd. Ardmore Distillery is known for its production of single malt Scotch whisky, a type of whisky made from malted barley in a single distillery.

History[edit | edit source]

The Ardmore Distillery was founded by Adam Teacher, son of William Teacher, in 1898. The distillery was built to meet the growing demand for Teacher's Highland Cream, a popular blended Scotch whisky. The distillery was equipped with two stills and began production in 1899.

Production[edit | edit source]

Ardmore Distillery uses traditional methods of whisky production. The distillery sources its water from the nearby Ben Rinnes mountain. The malted barley used in the production is peated, giving the whisky a distinctive smoky flavour. The distillery has eight stills, four wash stills and four spirit stills, which allow it to produce over 5.5 million litres of whisky per year.

Products[edit | edit source]

Ardmore Distillery produces a range of single malt Scotch whiskies. The core range includes the Ardmore Legacy, a lightly peated single malt, and the Ardmore Traditional Cask, a peated single malt matured in quarter casks. The distillery also releases limited edition whiskies, such as the Ardmore 25 Year Old and the Ardmore 30 Year Old.
