History[edit | edit source]
Arsenal was founded in 1886 as Dial Square by workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich. The club was renamed Royal Arsenal shortly after its formation and then became Woolwich Arsenal in 1893 when it joined the Football League. In 1913, the club moved to Highbury, North London, and dropped "Woolwich" from its name.
Early Success[edit | edit source]
Under the management of Herbert Chapman in the 1930s, Arsenal won its first major trophies, including the First Division title in 1930-31 and the FA Cup in 1930. Chapman's innovative tactics and strategies laid the foundation for Arsenal's future success.
