Format[edit | edit source]

The competition begins in August with the Extra Preliminary Round and continues through to the Final, which is traditionally held at Wembley Stadium in May. The competition is open to all clubs in the top ten levels of the English football league system, although clubs in the Premier League and EFL Championship enter at the Third Round Proper stage.
