Astellas Pharma Inc. is a global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. It was formed on April 1, 2005, through the merger of Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.. Astellas Pharma was established as a result of the merger between Yamanouchi and Fujisawa, two of Japan's leading pharmaceutical companies.
