Bai people are an ethnic group native to the Yunnan Province in China. They are one of the 56 officially recognized ethnic groups in China. The Bai people are known for their rich culture, including their music, dance, and art, as well as their unique architectural style.

The history of the Bai people dates back over 3,000 years. They were once part of the Nanzhao Kingdom and Dali Kingdom, which were powerful entities in the region during the 8th to 13th centuries. The Bai people have a rich history of resistance against foreign rule, including the Mongol invasion in the 13th century and the Manchu invasion in the 17th century.

The culture of the Bai people is rich and diverse, with unique traditions in music, dance, and art. They are known for their traditional music, which is often played on instruments such as the erhu and pipa. As of the 2010 census, there were approximately 1.9 million Bai people in China, making them one of the larger ethnic minorities in the country. The majority of Bai people live in the Yunnan Province, particularly in the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture.
