Barceloneta, Puerto Rico is a municipality located on the north coast of Puerto Rico. Established as a municipality on April 25, 1921, by an act of the Puerto Rican legislature, Barceloneta is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is known for its beautiful beaches, pharmaceutical industries, and outlet shopping. The town is often referred to as "La Ciudad de las Piñas" or "The Pineapple City" due to its once vast pineapple plantations.
