Bashkortostan, officially known as the Republic of Bashkortostan, is a federal subject of Russia located in the Ural Mountains region, extending on both sides of the Ural River. It is part of the Volga Federal District. The capital and largest city of Bashkortostan is Ufa, which serves as the economic, cultural, and political center of the republic.

Bashkortostan covers an area of approximately 143,600 square kilometers, making it one of the larger federal subjects in Russia.
