Benedita Barata da Rocha

Benedita Barata da Rocha is a Brazilian politician and social activist who served as the Governor of Maranhão state from 2019 to 2022. She is the first Afro-Brazilian woman to be elected as governor in Brazil and is known for her work on social issues such as poverty, education, and human rights. She is also known for her work to promote the rights of Afro-Brazilian women and to combat racism and discrimination in Brazil.
