Benevento is a city in Southern Italy, located in the Campania region, about 50 kilometers northeast of Naples. It is the capital of the Province of Benevento. The city has a rich history that dates back to ancient times and has been a significant center through the Roman, Lombard, and later periods.

The area of Benevento has been inhabited since ancient times, and its strategic location made it a focal point for various civilizations.
