Benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin

Benzoyl Peroxide/Clindamycin is a combination of two medications, Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin, used primarily in the treatment of acne.

The term "Benzoyl Peroxide" is derived from the organic compound benzoyl and the inorganic compound peroxide. "Clindamycin" is derived from the chemical name "chlorodeoxylincomycin".

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

Benzoyl Peroxide is a type of peroxide used for its antiseptic properties. It works by reducing the amount of acne-causing bacteria on the skin and by causing the skin to dry and peel. Clindamycin is an antibiotic that stops the growth of bacteria. This product contains an antibiotic which helps to decrease the number of acne-causing bacteria.

This combination medication is used to treat a certain type of acne (inflammatory acne vulgaris). It helps to decrease the number of acne pimples.

Side Effects[edit | edit source]

Some common side effects of Benzoyl Peroxide/Clindamycin include dryness, redness, oiliness, and peeling of the skin. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Before using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to clindamycin or to benzoyl peroxide; or to lincomycin; or if you have any other allergies.
