Beta-lipotropin (β-lipotropin or β-LPH) is a protein that is part of the pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) family and is a precursor to several biologically active peptides. Structure and Synthesis

Beta-lipotropin is a peptide derived from the cleavage of POMC, a larger precursor molecule that also gives rise to other important hormones such as ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) and melanocyte-stimulating hormones (MSHs).
