Gamma-Amino-beta-hydroxybutyric acid (GABOB), also known as beta-hydroxy-GABA, is a naturally occurring neurotransmitter and a metabolite of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

The name "Gamma-Amino-beta-hydroxybutyric acid" is derived from its chemical structure, which includes a gamma amino group and a beta hydroxy group attached to a butyric acid backbone.

GABOB is a gamma-amino acid that is a close structural analogue of GABA. It is a derivative of butyric acid with an amino group at the gamma position and a hydroxy group at the beta position.
