Bogo, Cebu

Bogo, Cebu is a city in the province of Cebu, located in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. It is officially known as the City of Bogo and is classified as a third-class city, with a population of approximately 78,120 people according to the 2015 census.

Bogo was established as a parish by the Spanish colonial government in 1850. It was then organized into a town in 1860 and became a city on June 16, 2007, following a plebiscite as mandated by Republic Act No. 9390.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Bogo City is located in the northeastern part of Cebu province, approximately 101 kilometers from Cebu City, the provincial capital. It is bounded by the town of San Remigio to the west, the town of Medellin to the north, the Camotes Sea to the east, and the town of Tabogon to the south.

Economy[edit | edit source]

The economy of Bogo City is primarily based on agriculture, with rice, corn, and coconut as the main crops. The city is also known for its thriving fishing industry, with the Camotes Sea providing a rich source of marine resources.

Culture[edit | edit source]

Bogo City is known for its annual Pintos Festival, a cultural event that celebrates the city's rich history and traditions. The festival features street dancing, music, and the preparation of pintos, a local delicacy made from corn.

Infrastructure[edit | edit source]

Bogo City is served by the Bogo City Public Market, the Bogo City Hospital, and several educational institutions, including the Bogo City College and the Cebu Technological University - Bogo Campus.
