The Boston Globe is a daily newspaper based in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1872, it has been a significant source of news and information for the New England region and beyond. The Globe is known for its in-depth reporting and has won numerous Pulitzer Prizes for its journalism.

The Boston Globe was founded by six Boston businessmen, including Eben Dyer Jordan and Charles H. Taylor, who became the first publisher. The first issue was published on March 4, 1872. Initially, the Globe was a morning daily, but it later added an evening edition, which was eventually discontinued.

In 1993, the Globe was purchased by The New York Times Company for $1.1 billion. In 2013, it was sold to John W. Henry, the principal owner of the Boston Red Sox, for $70 million.

The Boston Globe is renowned for its investigative journalism. One of its most notable achievements was the exposure of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston sex abuse scandal in 2002, which earned the newspaper a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. This investigation was conducted by the Globe's "Spotlight" team and was later depicted in the Academy Award-winning film Spotlight.
