Boueilh-Boueilho-Lasque
Boueilh-Boueilho-Lasque is a commune located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France. The commune is part of the Béarn province, a historic and cultural region in the western Pyrenees that was an independent state from the 9th century to 1620 when it was united with the kingdom of France.
Geography[edit | edit source]
Boueilh-Boueilho-Lasque is situated approximately 20 kilometers north of Pau, the department's capital city. The commune is bordered by the communes of Anos, Miossens-Lanusse, and Astis. The Luy de Béarn river, a tributary of the Gave de Pau, flows through the commune.
History[edit | edit source]
The commune was formed in 1842 by the merger of the former communes of Boueilh and Boueilho-Lasque. The name Boueilh is derived from the Occitan word bòsc, meaning "wood", and the name Lasque is derived from the Occitan word lasc, meaning "slope".
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the latest census, the population of Boueilh-Boueilho-Lasque is approximately 200 residents, known as Boueilhois.
