- Breckenridge is a city located in Wilkin County, Minnesota, United States. It is situated on the eastern border of Minnesota, across the Red River from Wahpeton, North Dakota. The city is part of the Wahpeton, ND–MN Micropolitan Statistical Area. Breckenridge is rich in history and surrounded by natural beauty, making it a unique place to live, work, and visit.

- Breckenridge was platted in 1857, and named for John C. Breckinridge, a U.S. Senator from Kentucky and the fourteenth Vice President of the United States, to attract southern settlers. The city was incorporated in 1908.
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Breckenridge is located at the confluence of the Bois de Sioux River and Otter Tail River, forming the Red River of the North. The city is in the Red River Valley, an ancient lake bed that is extremely flat and contains rich soils.
