From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

British Osteopathic Association (BOA) is a professional body representing osteopaths in the United Kingdom. It was established in 1998 with the aim of promoting and advancing the profession of osteopathy. The BOA provides support and guidance to its members, and advocates for the profession at a national level.

History[edit | edit source]

The British Osteopathic Association was formed in 1998, following the merger of the British School of Osteopathy and the Osteopathic Association of Great Britain. The BOA was established to provide a unified voice for osteopaths in the UK, and to promote the highest standards of osteopathic practice.

Role and Functions[edit | edit source]

The BOA serves several key roles within the osteopathic profession. It provides professional support and advice to its members, including guidance on clinical practice, professional development, and ethics. The BOA also represents the interests of osteopaths in discussions with government bodies and other healthcare organisations.

In addition, the BOA promotes public awareness and understanding of osteopathy. It provides information about the benefits of osteopathy, and helps to connect patients with qualified osteopaths in their local area.

Membership[edit | edit source]

Membership in the BOA is open to all osteopaths registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). Members of the BOA are required to adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct, and to engage in ongoing professional development.
