Broca's area is a region in the human brain that is critical for language production. Located in the frontal lobe of the dominant hemisphere, which is the left hemisphere in about 95% of right-handed individuals and 70% of left-handed individuals, Broca's area is named after the French physician Paul Broca, who first identified its role in language processing in the 1860s.
