CBS News is the news division of the American television and radio service CBS. The president of CBS News is Susan Zirinsky, who assumed the role in January 2019. CBS News' broadcasts include the CBS Evening News, CBS This Morning, news magazine programs CBS Sunday Morning, 60 Minutes, and 48 Hours, and Sunday morning political affairs program Face the Nation. CBS News Radio produces hourly newscasts for hundreds of radio stations, and also oversees CBS News podcasts like The Takeout Podcast. CBS News also operates the 24-hour digital news network CBSN.

The origins of CBS News date back to 1927, with the creation of CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) by William S. Paley. The news division was established in 1941, in response to the need for more immediate and regular news updates during World War II.

Programming[edit | edit source]

CBS News' flagship program is the CBS Evening News, which has been broadcast every evening since 1948. Other key programs include CBS This Morning, 60 Minutes, 48 Hours, and Face the Nation.

CBS News Radio is the radio service of CBS News. It provides news, talk, sports and other programming to various affiliates and owned stations throughout the United States.
