CCBP2 or Chemokine Binding Protein 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CCBP2 gene. It is also known as ChemR23 or Chemokine Receptor 23.

Function[edit]

CCBP2 is a receptor for the Chemokine Chemerin. It is expressed in various tissues such as the spleen, liver, and testis. The protein is believed to play a role in the immune system, specifically in the migration of white blood cells to sites of inflammation.

Gene[edit]

The CCBP2 gene is located on the chromosome 12 (12q13.2-q13.3) and spans approximately 20 kb. The gene contains two exons and one intron.

Clinical significance[edit]

Mutations in the CCBP2 gene have been associated with Wharton's jelly and umbilical cord abnormalities. Further research is needed to fully understand the implications of these mutations.
