Caroline of Baden (Caroline Louise) was born on 13 July 1776 in Karlsruhe, Germany. She was the daughter of Charles Louis, Hereditary Prince of Baden, and Amalie of Hesse-Darmstadt. Caroline married Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico on 7 April 1829 in Karlsruhe Palace.

Caroline was known for her philanthropic work and support for the arts. She established several charitable organizations and patronized various cultural institutions. Her efforts in promoting education and healthcare were widely recognized.

During her time as Empress of Mexico, Caroline played a significant role in advocating for social reforms and improving the living conditions of the Mexican people. She was a strong advocate for women's rights and worked towards enhancing the status of women in Mexican society.

Caroline's reign as Empress was marked by political turmoil and challenges. Despite facing opposition from various factions, she remained dedicated to her causes and continued to support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the Mexican population.
