Center Square, Pennsylvania

Center Square, Pennsylvania is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Whitpain Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The community is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area, and is situated approximately 16 miles north of the city of Philadelphia.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Center Square is located at 40°8′28″N 75°16′2″W (40.141111, -75.267222). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.8 square miles, all of it land.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 5,779 people, 2,134 households, and 1,514 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 3,211.7 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the CDP was 91.7% White, 3.2% African American, 0.1% Native American, 3.4% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.7% of the population.

Education[edit | edit source]

Center Square is served by the Wissahickon School District. Public school students attend Blue Bell Elementary School, Wissahickon Middle School, and Wissahickon High School. There are also several private schools in the area.

Transportation[edit | edit source]

The community is served by several major roads, including Pennsylvania Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Pennsylvania Route 202 (Dekalb Pike). The nearest airport is Wings Field, a general aviation airport located in Blue Bell.

Notable people[edit | edit source]

  • John Salmons, former professional basketball player for the NBA, was born in Center Square.
