Charles Moertel
Charles G. Moertel (1927–1994) was a prominent American oncologist known for his significant contributions to the field of cancer research and treatment. He was particularly noted for his work on colorectal cancer and the development of chemotherapy protocols.

Charles Moertel was born in 1927. He pursued his medical education at the University of Minnesota, where he earned his medical degree. Following his graduation, he completed his residency and fellowship in oncology.

Moertel spent the majority of his career at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He joined the Mayo Clinic in 1955 and became a key figure in its oncology department. Over the years, he held various positions, including the chair of the oncology department.

Moertel's research primarily focused on gastrointestinal cancers, with a particular emphasis on colorectal cancer.
