Charles Skelton
Charles Skelton was an American politician and physician who served as a United States Representative from New Jersey. He was born on April 19, 1806, in Burlington, New Jersey, and died on May 20, 1879, in Trenton, New Jersey.

Charles Skelton was born in Burlington, New Jersey, where he received his early education. He later pursued medical studies and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1828. After completing his education, he began practicing medicine in Burlington.
Medical Career[edit | edit source]
Skelton was a well-respected physician in his community. He practiced medicine for several years before entering politics. His medical career provided him with a strong foundation in public service and community involvement.
Political Career[edit | edit source]
Charles Skelton was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-second and Thirty-third Congresses, serving from March 4, 1851, to March 3, 1855. During his tenure, he was known for his advocacy on issues related to public health and welfare.

After serving in Congress, Skelton returned to his medical practice in Trenton, New Jersey. He continued to be active in his community until his death on May 20, 1879. He was interred in Riverview Cemetery in Trenton.
