History[edit | edit source]

The college was built with funds from both private and government sources, and it admitted its first students in 1961.
Architecture[edit | edit source]
The college's architecture is modernist, designed by the renowned architect Richard Sheppard. The design emphasizes openness and light, which is a departure from the traditional college architecture at Cambridge.
