Cilacap Regency

Cilacap Regency is a regency located in the southwestern part of the Central Java province in Indonesia. It is the most southern regency of Central Java, and its capital is the town of Cilacap.

Geography

Cilacap Regency is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the south and west, Banyumas Regency to the north, and Kebumen Regency to the east. The regency covers an area of 2,124.47 square kilometers, making it the second largest regency in Central Java after Banyumas Regency.

History

The history of Cilacap Regency dates back to the Mataram Kingdom period. The area was later controlled by the Dutch East India Company during the colonial era. The regency was officially established on August 18, 1950.

Economy

The economy of Cilacap Regency is primarily based on agriculture, with rice, corn, and soybeans being the main crops. The regency is also known for its fishery industry, particularly in the coastal areas.
