- Clinton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 46,503. The county seat is Clinton. Its name is in honor of the seventh Governor of New York State, DeWitt Clinton.
Geography[edit | edit source]
- Clinton County is located in the easternmost part of Iowa, with its eastern border being formed by the Mississippi River. It covers a total area of 710 square miles, of which 695 square miles is land and 15 square miles is water.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
- As of the 2020 census, there were 46,503 people, 18,813 households, and 12,763 families residing in the county. The racial makeup of the county was 94.7% White, 2.3% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.9% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. 2.4% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
