Columbia County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 57,810. Its county seat and largest city is Portage. The county was created in 1846 and named after Christopher Columbus.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 796 square miles (2,060 km²), of which 766 square miles (1,980 km²) is land and 30 square miles (78 km²) (3.8%) is water.

As of the 2020 census, there were 57,810 people, 23,430 households, and 15,870 families residing in the county. The population density was 75.5 inhabitants per square mile (29.2/km²). There were 25,000 housing units at an average density of 32.6 per square mile (12.6/km²).

The racial makeup of the county was 94.5% White, 1.2% Black or African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.8% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.1% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. 3.0% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
