Cytestrol
Cytestrol is a synthetic steroid and estrogen that was never marketed. It is a member of the estrane group of steroids and is related to estradiol.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
Cytestrol, also known as 17α-ethynyl-18-methyl-19-nortestosterone, is a synthetic estrane steroid and a derivative of testosterone. It is more specifically a derivative of nandrolone (19-nortestosterone) and is a member of the estrane (or 19-norandrostane) group of steroids. Cytestrol is closely related to ethylestrenol (17α-ethynyl-19-nortestosterone) and norethandrolone (17α-ethynyl-19-nortestosterone 17β-ol-3-one).
