D'Angelo Grilled Sandwiches was founded in Dedham, Massachusetts in 1967 by Brian J. McLaughlin and Jay Howland. Originally named "Ma Riva's Sub Shop," the name was changed to D'Angelo in 1978. The chain quickly expanded throughout New England, becoming a popular choice for quick, grilled sandwiches.
