Dan Duchaine


Dan Duchaine (1952–2000) was an American bodybuilder, author, and two-time convicted felon. He is often referred to as the "Steroid Guru" and is recognized for his involvement in the bodybuilding community.

Duchaine was born in 1952 in Maine, United States. He developed an interest in weightlifting at a young age, which eventually led him to bodybuilding.

Bodybuilding Career[edit | edit source]

Duchaine began his career in bodybuilding in the 1970s. He quickly gained recognition for his knowledge and understanding of the use of anabolic steroids in bodybuilding. Duchaine was known for his controversial methods and was often criticized for promoting steroid use. Despite the controversy, he became a prominent figure in the bodybuilding community.

Duchaine was convicted twice for drug-related offenses. His first conviction was in 1983 for manufacturing and selling illegal steroids. He served a year in prison. His second conviction was in 1991 for conspiracy to distribute GHB, a controlled substance. He served another year in prison.

Writing Career[edit | edit source]

Duchaine authored several books on bodybuilding and steroids. His most notable work is Underground Steroid Handbook, which provides information on the use of steroids in bodybuilding. The book was controversial but became a bestseller in the bodybuilding community.

Death[edit | edit source]

Duchaine died in 2000 from kidney disease, which was believed to be caused by his long-term use of steroids.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Despite his controversial career, Duchaine's influence on bodybuilding remains significant. His work continues to be referenced in discussions on bodybuilding and steroid use.
