Daniel L. Doctoroff
Daniel L. Doctoroff is an American businessman and former government official. He is best known for his role as the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding for the City of New York City under Mayor Michael Bloomberg and as the CEO of Sidewalk Labs, an urban innovation company.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Doctoroff was born in Newark, New Jersey. He attended Harvard College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1980. He later received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago Law School in 1984.

Investment Banking[edit | edit source]
After graduating from law school, Doctoroff began his career in investment banking at Lehman Brothers. He later joined Oak Hill Capital Partners, a private equity firm, where he became a managing partner.
NYC 2012 Olympic Bid[edit | edit source]
Doctoroff is widely recognized for his leadership in New York City's bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympics. Although the bid was ultimately unsuccessful, it led to significant urban development projects, including the construction of the Hudson Yards and the extension of the New York City Subway's 7 line.
Deputy Mayor of New York City[edit | edit source]
In 2001, Doctoroff was appointed Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding by Mayor Michael Bloomberg. In this role, he was instrumental in the city's recovery efforts following the September 11 attacks. He also played a key role in the redevelopment of Lower Manhattan, the creation of the High Line park, and the rezoning of large parts of the city to encourage economic growth.
Bloomberg L.P.[edit | edit source]
After leaving his position as Deputy Mayor in 2008, Doctoroff joined Bloomberg L.P. as President. He later became CEO, a position he held until 2014. During his tenure, he focused on expanding the company's global reach and diversifying its product offerings.
Sidewalk Labs[edit | edit source]
In 2015, Doctoroff became the CEO of Sidewalk Labs, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. focused on urban innovation. Under his leadership, the company has worked on various projects aimed at improving urban living through technology and data-driven solutions.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Doctoroff is married and has three children. He is also involved in various philanthropic activities, particularly in the areas of education and urban development.
